The Sylvania Area consists of:
Sylvania Township and the City of Sylvania.  The current township population is estimated at about 48,500 with approximately 19,000 living within the city. Both the township and the city enchant all ages and lifestyles because of the high value placed on the quality of life.  The Sylvania Area is a tremendous place to work, live and play with vast variety of resources available to visitors and residents.

The Sylvania School District provides a comprehensive K thorugh 12 education which is regularly rated "excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education. We believe that an excellent education system is the foundation for a successful community. The Sylvania School District has 12 elementary, jr high and high schools.Private and parochial schools add another strong component to the area's educational opportunities. There are several area colleges and universities and various places of worship to enrich the overall community spirit.

Great health care services are another key component to this vibrant community. While Flower Hospital provides top notch services for Sylvania area residents and visitors, ProMedica has many nearby facilities for patient care. The dedicated full time police and fire department are an excellent resource because they put the community's needs first.

Another component for creating a high quality life, is fun.  Sylvania Township is filled with a wealth of recreation and something for everyone!  Organized sports and multiple outdoor activities are available from the award winning, nationally renowned softball diamonds and soccer fields of  Pacesetter Park  to the refreshing waters of Centennial Quarry; Olander Park offers bike paths, picnic areas, swimming and annual triathlons. Fossil Park is one of only two prime Devonian Era fossil sites on the entire planet. Sylvan Prairie Park is a 150-acre, 24-hour access park with our 5.5 mile Quarry Ridge Bike Trail, fishing and playgrounds. Centennial Terrace brings in concert events from the Big Band era, Rock n Roll, Jazz, and the Symphony.  It opens its doors to reunion events, Pizza Palooza, local entertainment and spectacular Fourth of July celebrations. For our 55+ year young community members, the Sylvania Senior Center is located on Sylvania Avenue. Our nationally accredited Senior Center is one of the premier senior centers, in the state of Ohio which provide special events for seniors with the annual "Follies", weekly movie nights, daily meals, group excursions, classes of all kinds, exercise programs, support goups, a gift shop and more; stop in to see what it's all about or visit scsonline.org
