The department provides emergency response from 4 locations throughout the community, all staffed with career firefighter/EMT’s. Career personnel work 24-hour shifts within what is known as the platoon system. Career firefighters begin their tour of duty at 07:00 hours to 07:00 hours. During this period they respond to calls for service and accomplish numerous other activities including: station work, physical and job related training, fire prevention and education. The Sylvania Township Fire Department utilizes two platforms to provide services to the citizens of Sylvania.Currently 3 personnel are deployed to stations #2, 3, 4 and 5 personnel to Station #1. 2 of these personnel at the # 1 Station are Paramedics dedicated to Lucas County Life Squad #6. The STFD operates (3) ALS Engine Companies, (1) ALS Truck company and a Lucas County Life Squad.
· “All Hazards” Fire Company - With current staffing levels, engine companies provide the most efficient way to deliver trained and equipped personnel to a wide array of emergency situations while operating under supervision and emergency scene accountability. · Staffed with one Lieutenant or Acting Shift Leader (ASL) and a minimum of two firefighter/EMT-(P or B)s. · Capable of providing progressive pre-hospital care via advanced airway management, IV therapy, Cardiac Monitoring. · Class A Fire Apparatus equipped with a full compliment of fire fighting equipment. Two units carry hydraulic auto extrication rescue equipment.
· 95’ Aerial Platform utilized for search and rescue, ventilation, and fire suppression situations · Staffing includes a fulltime Lieutenant, and two-fulltime firefighter/EMT’s (B or P). · Capable of providing progressive pre-hospital care via advanced airway management, IV therapy, Cardiac Monitoring. · Staffed with a minimum of (2) Sylvania Township Firefighter/Paramedics · Equipped with vital EMS supplies and equipment to deliver the most progressive pre-hospital care in Lucas County
