The Sylvania Township Fire Department (STFD) maintains a minimum daily career shift staffing level of 14 personnel, including Lieutenants, Firefighter/Paramedics and Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians. These responders work out of four fire stations strategically located throughout the Township and City of Sylvania.
The department provides fire suppression, rescue and progressive patient care along with first response to hazardous materials incidents through a fleet of 12 pieces of apparatus. The front line apparatus is equipped with Advanced Life Support (ALS) personnel and equipment and STFD also staffs Lucas County Life Squad #6.
The department is supplemented with qualified part-paid personnel and can conduct callback of full time personnel to assist on large-scale operations. STFD also has mutual aid agreements with the City of Toledo and other surrounding communities.
