Citizens Police Academy 2010

In April 2010, The Sylvania Township Police Department will be hosting its annual Citizens Police Academy.  A Citizens Police Academy offers residents of Sylvania Township an opportunity to see how their Police Department is run, and to experience what the working life of a police officer is like.

The Sylvania Township Citizens Police Academy gives members of the community an overview of the Police Department and its operations.  Sylvania Township Police Officers present on topics including firearms, taser, patrol operations, criminal investigations, radar and laser, Special Response Team, and dispatch/communications…to name just a few. 

The Academy is hosted on Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and runs for 8 consecutive weeks.  Classes meet at the Sylvania Township Police Department located at 4420 King Rd. and begin on April 6, 2010.  The Community Affairs Office is currently accepting applications, which are available at the Sylvania Township Police Department or by calling Officer Jeff Matuszewski at 419-882-7878.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, live or work in Sylvania Township, complete a written application, and have a clean criminal history.  The deadline for applications is Friday, March 26, 2010.  Class size is limited.
