Deputy Chief Rob Boehme started his career in law enforcement upon his hiring into the Sylvania Township Police Department in August 1981. Primarily assigned to road patrol, he was later promoted to sergeant in 1986 and served a number of years supervising the numerous shifts within the road patrol. In January 1998, he was selected to assume a supervisory, administrative position within the department intended to manage the department’s operations at that time and to coordinate those operations with an outside consultant during a time of great change within the department. In February 1998, he was promoted to captain and served at that rank until his recent promotion to deputy chief in January 2007. During the majority of the past nine years in this administrative position, he has assisted several chiefs in managing the overall operations of the department and served as its second in command, assuming the duties and responsibilities of the chief of police when that office was vacated or unavailable.
Deputy Chief Boehme has earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Toledo and his Ohio Peace Officers Training certificate from Owens Technical College. He has continued his professional education throughout his career and is currently enrolled in Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, scheduled to graduate in March 2007.

He greatly values public service and is extremely proud of the department’s positive, professional reputation. He looks forward to continuing his effort toward improving the quality of life in Sylvania Township and aligning the departments’ services to fit the needs of the community it serves.
