D.A.R.E. –
Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a preventative program that was developed in Los Angeles. Uniformed officers are selected and trained to teach the D.A.R.E. lessons in schools. Their primary function is to instruct and show students how to develop the skills necessary to be able to resist the pressure to use drugs and alcohol.
In Sylvania Township, the D.A.R.E. principles are taught in the 5th and 7th grades. In the 2005-2006 school year, the D.A.R.E. program was presented to over 750 students.
