The Sylvania Township Police Department offers its employees an attractive salary and benefits package, training, and varied assignments within the department. The officers in the department also enjoy weapons certification and training in our very own indoor firing range and outdoor training facility located just minutes from our station.

The department accepts applications approximately every two years for the position of police officer with other positions such as police/fire dispatcher and clerical on an “as-needed” basis. Advertisements will appear in the
Toledo Blade and
Toledo Journal when applications are accepted, as well as posting the most current information on the website. After applications are accepted, qualified applicants participate in a competitive examination and an eligibility list is established.
Requirements for the position of police officer are:
- At least 21 years of age
- U.S. citizen
- High School diploma or GED
- 64 semester (96 quarter) hours of college credit at an accredited college or university (or completion of Associates Degree)
- Possess current Ohio Peace Officers Academy Certification
- Able to produce valid driver’s license at time of appointment
