The new site presents a welcoming appearance right from the homepage, with an interactive dropdown menu and features. Not only making it easier for users to obtain information, contact officials and departments, but the new site is built upon a responsive platform allowing users to access the site from mobile devices and tablets.
In addition to official records of trustee meetings and zoning meetings, stories concerning actions by the township are available to read under the news section. Announcements and information for upcoming pickups and township events can be found in the news section and on the calendar, allowing resident to add items to their mobile device calendar or share with friends on their Facebook wall.
The new site has been developed through a contract with InfoStream Solutions located in Perrysburg, for $12,425.
The site design and project has been led by township IT Coordinator/Administrative Assistant, Samantha Babkiewicz. She pointed out that, among other things, the new website will allow her to update not only content, but the design of the site. By bringing the design capabilities in-house it is saving the township about $500 per month.
Some of the biggest changes aside from being mobile/tablet friendly are an interactive map feature, Facebook icon and the ability to fill out and send in forms. The forms portion of the site for different departments is a work in progress, but there are a few up online allowing users to submit questions, volunteer applications and zoning complaints.
Ms. Babkiewicz added that the whole point of the upgrade is to make information more readily available to residents. “We live in a technology driven world where people want information at their fingertips. The vision of the new site is just that, giving the residents township information 24/7.”
