It was meant to be an in-house thank you from the road superintendent, but a note complimenting the Sylvania Township road crews wound up getting broader attention.
Rob Nash said he wrote the congratulatory note because the workers deserved it and that not enough attention gets paid to their day-to-day efforts. He noted there has not been on one-day crippling weather event to draw attention, but that this season has been challenging nonetheless.
Since Dec. 22, the Sylvania Township area has had over 19 inches of snow–5 inches above average. Like the rest of the area, we endured a long stretch of days where the temperature didn’t reach 20 degrees.
He congratulated them for “your efforts to keep township roads safe and clear and our equipment running has been outstanding.”
Working under recent conditions, he noted, can easily lead to minor or major accidents, “and we have had none.”
An extra thanks went to those who worked 16 and 12 hour shifts on Christmas eve and Christmas day which allowed some coworkers some time with their families.
