Fiscal Officer Report
Dave Simko, Sylvania Township fiscal officer, reviewed the Township’s budget during the June 20 regular meeting with five months of the fiscal year having passed.

“It is early, but we are not expecting anything unusual to come along. I think we’re doing well,” Simko stated.

At the end of May, the General Fund showed expenses of $691,823 or 41.66 percent of its budget; the Road and Bridge Fund had expenses of $832,762 or 36.52 percent of its budget; the expenses of the Police Fund were $2,976,370 or 42.1 percent of its budget; and the Fire Fund had expenses of $4,895,156 or 39.9 percent of its budget.

Simko added that revenue for the period for each fund was at or above what has been budgeted.

The township publishes and presents monthly financial reports for review by the public. The reports are accessible at sylvaniatownship.com or can be provided upon request.

Ambulance Grant Application
Sylvania Township Fire Chief Mike Ramm was given the authority to apply for the Ohio Ambulance Transportation Program grant. The funds are part of the American Rescue Plan Act, which the state of Ohio allocated a portion of for the Ohio Ambulance Transportation program. The funds will help with the pandemic-imposed demands on ambulance providers for additional protective and sanitation measures and the surge in the need for response services.

Liquor Permit Approved
A liquor permit was granted to The Revolver Vape Shop at 3015 N. Holland Sylvania Rd. at the June 20 meeting of the  Sylvania Township Board of Trustees.
